NOI Techpark (Italy)
The idea of the Nature of Innovation (NOI) Techpark is to generate a campus where different disciplines and research directions meet and mutually benefit from their way of working and thinking. That is why the open space idea has been leading the laboratory planning from the very beginning. Researchers are always working on different projects at the same time, coming together to form new research groups and need space for new, different, larger equipment and connections. Tables must be equipped for all weight classes, but also the media supply must be guaranteed everywhere.
The specifications for the new building for the BIMSB were therefore clear: top equipment, flexibility of the rooms and an appealing architecture that promotes communication for the 250 researchers from currently 16 working groups.
The work zones deliberately mix disciplines: laboratory and computer workstations alternate. Through the glass facades of the building complex and the glass walls of the laboratories, light enters the laboratory and computer-based workspaces on both sides, creating a bright, pleasant working environment.
The Secuflow also increases safety in the laboratory. In numerous situations, it is necessary to intervene in experimental set-ups or processes inside the fume cupboard, and when the sash is opened, among other things, turbulence is created that can generate backflows from inside the fume cupboard. However, instead of increasing the exhaust air volume now, Secuflow technology achieves excellent retention values and reliably protects the people working on the fume cupboard.
